The Grandview Trail, originating from the Grandview Point overlook, provides hikers with a unique opportunity to explore the Grand Canyon's stunning landscapes and rich mining history. This trail connects the rim to Horseshoe Mesa and features various elevations and mileages:

  • Grandview Trailhead (7400 ft / 2256 m) to:
    • Coconino Saddle (6210 ft / 1893 m): 1.1 mi (1.8 km)
    • Horseshoe Mesa (4900 ft / 1494 m): 3.0 mi (4.8 km)

The trail is historically significant, originally created to connect the rim with copper mines on Horseshoe Mesa. Today, it serves as one of the best access routes into the canyon, showcasing the engineering prowess of its builders.

Important Notes

  • The Grandview Trail can be dangerous in winter due to ice. Traction devices are recommended.
  • Historic mines are closed to visitation for safety and conservation reasons.
  • Entry to all caves in the Grand Canyon is prohibited to protect local bat populations.
